More France, More Fun

Traveling is tiring. It takes a lot out of you, and it seems like this semester has been four months of non-stop travel. The plan for this past weekend was to go to Ibiza and have one last hurrah with my roommates before our final weeks here. It was going to be crazy, as Ibiza is known for its parties, and I was excited, but nervous about how tiring it would be on top of the already heavy exhaustion. So when I got the text alert from Ryanair that our flight was cancelled due to French airstrikes once again, I wasn’t heartbroken.

We took the opportunity to make some fun plans in Southern France while we still had the time, and explore our own city of Aix. We went out to our usual three stops on Thursday night to celebrate classes being done for the week. (As if we actually do anything for those classes). It’s always fun, and somehow we keep managing to stay out later and later. I made the mistake of trying steak frites from this little shop that stays open till 6 am just to feed the people of Aix, and now I’m addicted. There will not be a night out where that doesn’t happen anymore. Thankfully I discovered with only two weeks to go.

We got up the next day and got some insanely good sandwiches from O Bagel, and made our way to Toulon for a beach day. Although it was only 65 degrees out, we basked in the sun and enjoyed some beautiful scenery. I use the Game of Thrones comparison a lot (P.S. this weeks episode was insane!), but it felt like a scene straight from the show. We were nestled in a little inlet off the Mediterranean Sea surrounded by sand and palm trees on one side, and mountains on the other, and had some other scenic shots from our nude friends.

The rest of the weekend was very relaxed, and I got to enjoy more of Aix. We tried fun restaurants and sampled lots of ice cream to find our favorites, and got to relax under the wonderful French sun. It’s starting to set in that this semester is ending. We are in our last week of classes, shifting the mindset towards finals, and thinking about the summer ahead. I’m definitely excited to be back with family and friends soon, but I’m also excited for all of the final activities before we leave Aix. Just a few things left to finish up, and I’m looking forward to making the most of it.
