As of today I am OFFICIALLY unpacked and organized in my apartment!! I have a few little things left to hang up on the walls, but overall it’s pretty dang cute. I’ve been living on my own for 3 whole months now and have been bad about getting into a routine, but can say that I’m onto my new norm now.
It has been an expensive blast getting everything set up here. There’s little things I love, like having my own couch and being able to stock my fridge the way I want. And things I hate, like paying for my own groceries and working out in the morning (well I’ve always hated that). Streeterville is the cutest neighborhood and conveniently a quick 20 minute walk to work. There is a breakfast place across the street and you can see the lake from my living room window. I found a nail salon down the road that is BYOB and a grocery store that sells all the latest Kraft Heinz products. Everything I seem to need is in the immediate vicinity.
Over the past month I’ve gone on 3 work trips so I’ve barely been home, but I’m excited for the rest of the summer to fully enjoy my outdoor rooftop and lakeside walks. It has been much more fun to work out on the lake with the breeze hitting my face and ~Miami vibes~ with the waves roaring up the beach.
Thus far my favorite thing has been waking up on a Saturday or Sunday with nothing to do but chill. I’m finally catching up on my TV to do list, currently enjoy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I do, but wow it’s a fun show. I’ve been a lot better about taking time for myself just to relax, something I didn’t always get to do living with 2-3 other people. This time so far has been so fun and I’m happy I got a lil wild and decided to do the housing thing on my own.
Summer has been a blast so far. There’s been travels, fun nights out, and trying new restaurants. My sister has been home since May as well and she’s enjoyed coming over to write and lay outside on the roof to enjoy the sun. Summertime Chi is the best and I can’t believe it’s nearly August. Lollapalooza starts in just 3 days, and as that has always signified the end of summer, I am getting sad summer is closing out! Lolla is going to be amazing as always and I will be sure to write a recap of the performances with many, many pictures. As I anxiously await Lolla in the next week, I am also thinking ahead to the other plans I have in August. I’m going to see Beyonce the following weekend, Drake the weekend after that, and celebrate my birthday with friends and family. The last weekend of August I decided to go to New York to celebrate with that crew of friends. So needless to say August is going to fly by, and I can’t wait!
The first week of September is the kick off to Costa Rica, which after writing all of this makes me realize I need to slow down on my spending J Which won’t happen but a girl can dream. That’s another trip that I’ve been planning for a while but is going to be one of those life changing memorable experiences.
As this was just a little update for now, I am excited to share the rest of the summer in more detail and do a full apartment tour in the coming weeks! City life for the single gal has been treating me well, and I look forward to an incredible close to summer.
